THE SALLIE MORGAN AWARD
An opportunity to win a grant of £500
The Sylvia Short Educational Charity is delighted to announce a new award for Herefordshire schools and colleges, their pupils and students. This award to the value of £500 will be for the best report on an activity or event which has been given funding by the charity in the previous year. It will be presented annually.
This award has been established to honour the memory of Sallie Morgan, the charity’s first chairman, with contributions from her friends and family and from the charity. It has always been a condition of the charity’s grants that those receiving funding provide a report on the activity or event stipulated. Sallie Morgan always placed great importance on receiving such feedback from the pupils and students involved, believing strongly that the preparation of this report was to the benefit of the young people and also of the charity.
The Sallie Morgan Award will be to the value of £500 as a donation to a further activity or event undertaken by the winning school or college and which meets the charity’s criteria for grants. It is the wish of the charity that this award should, where possible, benefit the class, group or individuals who submitted the report. The decision on the winning report, which can be in any media, will be taken by a panel appointed by the trustees.
The first Sallie Morgan Award will cover grants allocated in 2022 and will be announced in the spring of 2023.
